Many people don’t take much care about the coolers and air conditioners that provide us cool air in the hot summers. Air conditioners work effectively for years together only when certain care is taken in this regard.
Air conditioners are used extensively during the summer seasons causing stress on the constituent parts. To withstand this pressure and to make them work effectively, they should be cleaned regularly. Otherwise, disfunctioning of the appliance or wastage of power or frequent repairs will arise. No problem will arise if the appliance is cleaned regularly. Maintenance costs will be cut down. More over, the power bills get saved.
First, examine the room in which air conditioner is going to be arranged. Fix the holes, if any, to avoid the escape of cool air through them.
Dirt and dust in the air conditioners should be cleaned by using vacuum cleaners. There are chances of stuck up of plant leaves and bird feathers in the compressor if the trees are present nearby. More care must be taken in these cases. Cooling coils, condensers of air conditioner should be cleaned without causing wetness to them.
Dust filters in the AC’s should be removed and cleaned by using a soft brush. Care must be taken as it is a delicate part. Replace it with the new ones, if that doesn’t work properly. It is the most important part of AC and plays major role in its working. It removes the dust that is spread in the room. AC’s don’t work efficiently if this part is damaged.
Set the thermostat at 24 – 26 degrees. Use auto or sleep mode. This not only conserves the power but also maintains the coolness of the air in the required level. If there is decrease of even one degree in the specified temperature of thermostat or temperature controller, power consumption increases by three to five percent.
Always avail the service of a certified person in AC servicing. Don’t consult an untrained person. Look after the maintenance of AC by regularly cleaning and servicing it.
Regular Maintenance
Cleaning of the coolers regularly will certainly lessen the time and money. Generally, more maintenance is to be done for AC’s. Clean it in every season and frequently in summer. Maintenance also increases with the increased usage. Cooling pads, filters, reservoir, and pump must be checked at least once a month in summer season. Cooling pads should be replaced with new ones for two months in the season or monthly if the usage is more. Then only, it gives cool air.
